Buddy-Kiosk

The buddY program at KHS

Everyday school life is becoming increasingly difficult due to violence, integration difficulties and addiction problems. The buddY program shows new ways to deal with these problems constructively - by activating students: In projects that are individually tailored to our school, students take on responsibility and strengthen their social skills. The program raises awareness of the needs of others and the abilities of each individual.

buddYs are committed to their classmates, they take on sponsorships, e.g. for the students in class 5, they serve as contact persons in the event of problems or disputes, they organize the class council independently, help with learning difficulties and support each other. Our goal is a school in which teachers and students live together responsibly.

Our motto is:

Look after each other.

Be there for each other.

Learning together.

The KHS has been active in the buddY program since 2012 and the school's own kiosk works particularly well. In shifts, the buddYs carry out all the necessary tasks that arise in a kiosk, such as making sandwiches, calculating prices, observing hygiene regulations and closing the till at the end of the day.

In addition, the students receive important foundations for their professional future, because in order to work in the buddY kiosk, students must apply and describe their motivation to work there.

The buddY program is run by Talent Metropole Ruhr in cooperation with the non-profit organization Education-Y.
