Catholic secondary school

The Catholic secondary school is the last secondary school in Marl.

It is attended by students from the entire city area and the surrounding neighboring towns.

Foundation and history

The Catholic Secondary School [KHS] was founded in 1968 and started in Marl-Drewer on Wiesenstraße.

At the beginning of the 2016/2017 school year, the Catholic secondary school moved into a new building. Together with the expiring Hermann-Claudius secondary school, the Catholic secondary school moved into the building of the former Günther-Eckerland secondary school in Marl-Hamm.

Inclusion and integration

The Hermann-Claudius-Hauptschule brought the two international support classes in which students with a refugee background learn the German language.

Thus, the Catholic secondary school not only covers inclusion (support for learners with special educational needs in inclusive learning) but also integration.

The Catholic secondary school is the last secondary school in Marl. It has two to three classes and is attended by students from the entire city area and the surrounding neighboring towns.

Our premises

There are two buildings on the school premises of the Catholic Secondary School: in the main building, in addition to the administration (school management, secretariat, caretaker) and the consultation rooms of the school social workers and advisory teachers, all specialist rooms (physics, chemistry, biology, sports hall, textiles, art, technology, school kitchen, music, computer room, school kiosk) are housed.

Grades 5-7 are also located in the main building during the current school year.

The annex building contains only the classrooms for grades 8, 9 and 10, the language support classes and the Career Orientation Office (BOB).

The large auditorium in the main building can be used by the entire student body and offers enough space for our graduation ceremonies, among other things.

The two schoolyards of the Catholic secondary school, with their different areas (sports field, basketball hoops, Marler Sportbox and the large tree population), offer sufficient opportunities for the students to organize their breaks.

Learners & Employees

There are currently around 380 students in 19 classes at the Catholic secondary school and they are taught by around 30 teachers (including a special education teacher, two MPT teachers and a male and female trainee teacher). Our school also employs our school secretary, our caretaker, a school social worker, a school social worker and three cleaners.

Since the 2020/2021 school year, the timetable has been changed from 45-minute intervals to 60-minute intervals.

The Catholic Secondary School can be reached from the entire city area using the bus lines 225, 225E, 227 and 227E of the Vestischen Straßenbahn GmbH.
