Find out more about
When students move up to grade 10 at the end of grade 9, they obtain their first school leaving certificate (formerly known as the Hauptschule certificate).
It is also noted whether the student attends the class in the
Class 10 Type A or Type B.
The first school leaving certificate is obtained without a central examination procedure.
The extended first school leaving certificate (formerly the secondary school leaving certificate after grade 10 type A) is acquired after a final examination procedure (ZP 10).
The intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife) is awarded after a final examination (ZP 10) at the end of
Class 10 Type B.
If at least satisfactory grades are achieved in all subjects in class 10 type B, the students are entitled to attend the upper secondary school (see also eligibility to attend the upper secondary school).
