LANGUAGE SUPPORT GROUPS AT THE KHS
The language support groups aim to enable students with a migration background and poor or no knowledge of German to transition to a regular class as quickly as possible. The focus of all lessons, even outside of German lessons, is always to acquire basic German language skills.
The students are partially integrated as early as possible in the subjects German, mathematics, English (individual) and sports in order to then be successfully integrated into the regular class.
As a rule, students learn for two years in the initial support program, followed by partial and full integration into regular classes.
In close cooperation with the other schools in Marl, an immediate change of school type is possible if necessary (secondary school, high school, comprehensive school). For older students (17 years and older), there are language support groups at the Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg in Marl and at other vocational colleges, so that the school career is also secured for the older students.
This paves the way for all aspects of life, from literacy to individual entry into the world of work and employment.
