ComicOn! - Bullied Out 2.0

RAUSGEMBBT 2.0

A play on the subject of cyberbullying by Comic On! Theaterproduktion

The acting ensemble of the theater production Comic On! was a guest at the Catholic Secondary School in Marl on April 6, 2022. Pedagogically trained actors performed a play for grades 8 to 10 in the auditorium that tells of cyberbullying, how to deal with it as a victim and as a supposed outsider.

The play BULLYED OUT 2.0 is about a 16-year-old boy, Jess, who has already experienced bullying at school. After changing schools, he wants to stay out of all the arguments and start over. So he prefers to spend his time in the virtual world and play games. At the new school, however, he meets two girls. Vanessa is popular and sets the tone at school, and Jess quickly becomes friends with her. The other girl, Chris, is teased and laughed at, both in real life and in virtual life. Jess also becomes friends with her because they share the same hobby. The bullying situation for Chris becomes increasingly serious, she is put under pressure with a video, laughed at and exposed on the Internet.

"How would you behave?"

How will Jess behave? Can he choose a side or will he stay out of everything, as he has planned?

Based on the presented play, the students were confronted with situations that they had already experienced or could experience in a similar way.

“How would you behave in that situation?” “Are there reasons why the characters in the play behaved that way?” “What options do you have to help yourself and others?”

These and other questions were answered together with the students in the auditorium after the performance. The actors moderated the discussion and also answered further questions from interested students. All students followed both the play and the subsequent discussion with great interest and attention. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to further reflect on what they had seen and discussed together with their class teachers.
